Paul,

The berus i posted was not from the nikolskii range, that starts somewhere on the eastern slopes of the Carpathians. I`ve seen one of those black fellows, too bad it was DOR.
Here is another treasured viper find, this time from the Danube Delta. Some say it`s moldavica, otheres believe it to be renardi...
This pics were taken with a friend`s early model point & shoot after a night of partying on yet another field camping trip with the university. Two weeks on the last wild beaches o Europe. We were supposed to study the flora. :ugeek: But how can you do that when all around you are good friends, lots of booze, pretty girls and plenty snakes sunning themselves?! 8-)

Vlad,

Great pics of a species that is right at the top of my must see list... it was one of my main ticks for the Balkan trip, sadly there was still too much snow around.. next time! I only have milos, seonaei and ursinii to see.

You should come over to England and see loads of Berus :D

Cheers

Paul

I will return to England one day on a family trip and i`m sure we`ll go after some adders as well. Of all the countries, England has a really special place in my heart, as it was the birds from London`s many fine parks that turned me into a birder. After seeing my first Canada Goose I bought my very first bird book from a library on Oxford Street, a Collins pocked guide, and started marking birds i`ve seen. It was such a rush!
My relatives did not understand why i cared not about palaces, art galleries ant other touristy places. ;) I only cared about birds and caught a monster cold chasing them for two weeks in February. But it was all worth it.
The funny part is that all this happened a coulpe of years after getting my degree in Ecology and after visiting the Danube Delta for it`s wildlife several times... Go figure!

If my little story did not cheer you up, i have another trick up my sleeve. Yup, it`s another special viper! ;) This one`s from my honey moon in Corfu and was found by my wife actually. I was busy running around after Platyceps, Hierophis, Elaphe, Natrix and flipping for Typhlops to spot this one crossing our path only a couple of steps in front of us! :D

Vlad,

Great to hear England turned you into a birder! if you fancy a visit, as well as being amongst many berus sites, I live between two very large RSPB reserves, one a specialist in waders... so you would have plenty to do :D

Great to see you were herping on your honeymoon :D you are very lucky to have a wife that shares your interest!

Great pics Tomaz! Where were they taken? The site where we saw ammodytes or the site were we saw Hierophis viridiflavus? or another site you have kept secret from me :D
Good to see people are getting out and about... I am mainly sofa surfing at present :x I am however compiling a must see by the end of the season tick list :D

Kind regards

Paul
