Well I finally finished all my lizard catching for my PhD fieldwork. I had a short trip over to Holland in May and caught this little chap...
Pleased to see him but give me a green one any day...
P.S. Isn't Holland Western Europe?

The only other photo of a black sand lizard I've seen is from Russia and you can see it here (scroll down) -

Caught about 700 in the end, now got the hard bit to do... aiming to finish the end of next year
