Hi,
just found my second Hydromantes in my habitat. Too dark for good pics, so I´ll keep it overnight.
What should I do now?
Now it´s clear that there is a population
Cheers,
Julius

That's great! Can't wait to see it.
I'm not sure... The (likely) species falls actually on some legislation.

As Hydromantes is not native in Germany, I don't think so.

Nice if that could be well applied !
I'm really waiting for the pictures to know more about that cave salamander !!!
Try to find some individual signs (why not counting them?).
Did you told it to DGHT?

Indeed, I also think the Habitat Directive rules for all of Europe, eventhough this may seem silly in this case.

I was recently trying to understand the similarities and differences between the French and German legislation as regards the protection laws and from what I could understand, I would agree with Michael. Anyway, following his advises will put you automatically on the safe side... Congrats again for this finding and thanks for keeping us informed on the following.

Hi,
it will take some time with the pictures, but I´ll post it as soon as I can.
All in all, I need some help with this thing, maybe someone of you could help me. Would be nice, because I have nearly no time during the next days/weeks.

If you like, I could ask advice from some of my German herpetologist contacts?

Habitats Directive only applies to a species in its 'natural range', but I think you would need to prove how you came by it...
