Random calling natterjack from my unordered mess of spring pics:
I would have liked to show an amplexed pair of Pelobates from last night but spadefoots seem to be the bane of my photographic existence.
I've only seen them on four occasions.
First time around I dipped my camera in the water.
Second time my only excuse for my crappy pics is bringing a really bad discount camera and poor lighting - not optimal for shooting wet, glistening amphibians in the pitch dark.
Third time no excuses, just mediocre pics. Still, they were easily the best I had - until my hard disk crashed, and no, I didn't have backup
Finally, last night the idiot, yours truly, forgot to check the batteries on his camera - and his cell phone
I am generally a bit of a twat when it comes to photography and keeping my gear in order but most of the time I still manage to get it right (more or less)
...except, it seems, when Pelobates are around
