Vipera berus in Bavaria
Posted: Sat Aug 16, 2014 7:48 amYesterday, during a few, at least a bit, sunny hours on a winterday, I have been in northern Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern), close to the Austrian border.
A new, until now, unknown locality for the adder in that region.
Only a few steps, after leaving the forest road there was the first and only one - a subadult male.
There also a lot of lizards are living: Zootoca and L. agilis together.
The sand lizard population consists of approx. 90% erythronotus morphs (about 30 to 40 specimens seen).
Zootocas babies already have been born and I saw a this year baby snake, running very quick into the Vaccinium bushes (not sure, if berus or maybe Coronella)
