For me as a Dutchman living practically in the dunes, this is so bizar to see! I do encounter the odd Sand Lizard while strolling though the sandblown dunes but to find a snake in such habitat is something I can only dream of!

That's odd. Here in Denmark adders are quite common in many areas of coastal dunes. Here's one found in lee in the middle of a sandstorm with gale force thrusts of wind.
