I saw one Emys orbicularis on my way to work today! :) It is cold and cloudy, but this stubborn terrapin was basking on the riverbank.

So, i like this thread a lot. Let see who finds the last herp of `09.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

As I already mentioned we moved to London..and yesterday(11.11.2009),after some rainy days we took a walk on the Horsenden Hill, very close to Perivale Nature Reserve. As I've read, the are is famous for it's numerous bluebells and fungi! Well,no bluebells in that time of year, but the fungi were a lot, indeed!

But the most exciting thing we found on that meadow...

A bit closer! And there it is! :)

A subadult female Triturus cristatus! I know maybe I should've not disturb it..but I just couldn't resist taking some photos!

It might have not been hibernating yet, because the weather was mild and the newt was moving quite fast (as fast as a newt can move,of course :))

After that we carefuly placed it back where we found it..under it's tree and left it in peace! I couldn't believe our luck! I'll surely remember our first UK herp! :)

Today sun just until 11:30 :x
Around 12:30 I found one of the babys from yesterday crawling around a few meters beside the basking place where I found it yesterday.
I tried to follow but lost track after 10-15 meters - don´t know if there was a hole or if I simple was to stupid to find it again.

Daniel you lucky guy!!!

We had good weather conditions the past days here in the south, between 12 - 15 degrees during the day, a lot of sun and no frost at night.
I was out this noon and found nothing, no snake no lizard! For sure this was the last time this year!!!
Very frustrating!!

100 Days = 01.03.2010
