Hey guys,
So, a little bit earlier than my 2013 post (though still late I agree but better late than never ) here's a selection of some pictures taken during my herping sessions in Switzerland in 2014. Enjoy!
Firstly some non herp encounters:
Then a surprising spot found in a new place for me. In this area, I've found 6 Natrix maura, a Hierophis viridiflavus, a Natrix natrix, a Vipera aspis and 2 Zamenis longissimus! So 11 snakes within a few square meters! I was with my father that day and we were both stunned. Here's the spot:
And one of the two Zamenis found there. I don't put the pictures of the other snakes simply because they were of bad quality (even that pic of the Zamenis is by far not my best but it was the best from the lot):
In-situ
Some Salamandra salamandra found in the forest next to my home after some rain. They were everywhere on a small path, probably between 15 and 20:
A Coronella austriaca basking on a wall on which I find lots of Vipera aspis usually (mostly melanic ones):
A very exposed Natrix maura:
Natrix natrix:
And of course, Vipera aspis:
