Yesterday I found a new spot by surprise with a friend, luckily I had my camera with me :D
In total we found Anguis fragilis, Lacerta agilis, Natrix natrix, Bufo bufo, Rana temporaria, Pelophylax ridibundus, Triturus cristatus, Hyla arborea, Pelobates fuscus, a couple wild boar and deer. I was very surprised by the richness of species in that area.
Here are my two highlights, the two amphibian species I havent seen before:

Pelobates fuscus

Habitat shot (the orange light in the background is a nuclear power plant).

Sadly there's a long road between some of the ecosystems and so the amphibians were traveling across the road at night, resulting in many of them getting run over. Its a shame to see these beautiful and rare animals dying just because people always have to travel as fast as possible.

Gotta love Pelobates :) ! Both shots are very good!
Was that also in the Heidelberg-area? From my place in Munich it is roughly two hours to the next Pelobates-population - and it is not an exceptionally good one...

Thanks,
yes its in the region of Heidelberg, a 30 minute drive away actually. And its an awesome habitat, we found over 10 individuals in under 30 minutes.
But only 2 Hyla and hundreds of the Pelophylax.
