Cool photos and observations! Especially love the berus dance.
Same here, we have to cancel something (Norway), but were still abble to made some very enjoyable trips (Dolomites and Sardinia). I also had more time to my local "business" and finally saw some species and behaviour I never seen before. I do not like all these restrictions and will be happy to travel again, but after alI, I can´t say I did not enjoyed 2020. It was somewhat slower, more time to do stuff which i postponed for a long time...
I will also share some memorable moments. I started traditionally with blue guys, discovered a new spot with no people around.
For a first time I witnessed berus combats. Also two matings.
For a first time I saw a natterjack toad. Here in Czech rep. they are a rarest amphibian species, only couple isolated populations. So I was very happy to see them.
I also have more time to train a walk with my dog and during these walks I discovered some cool non herp species.
Black stork nest. I also found a Northern goshawk nest but It was very high in the trees, did not want to disturb them si I do not have a fair picture. Maybe in 2021 if they come back.
Accidentaly met a baby badger during a daytime. Later I found their burrow and spend a lot of time to watch whole familly
Behamian waxwing
After long years I spend a weekend in our northern Aesculapian snake spot, one of theese isolated populations which are far north from their coherent are of occurence.
Found an high altitude berus in Dolomites, Austrian ammodytes and some speleomantes species in Sardinia..
Traditonal autumn mandering with a very late and huge grass snake lady
And was very happy when "my" long eared owls returned back to their winter sleeping spot what I discover in 2019.
Cheers!
