Yes, its Central Europe.
Exactly its the Trattberg, east of the Salzach river valley, approx. 25 kms south of town Salzburg.
These mountains belong to the Northern Limestone Alps (Nördliche Kalkalpen, Tennengebirge).
- View from the "Möserlalm" to the east
- ...and from the "Christlalm" to the Southwest
I was there last wednesday, the hottest day of the year until now.
I was up at an altitude of 1´650 m at short after 7:30 in the morning. Walking around, I "climbed" up to nearly 1´900 m asl and stayed on the mountain until 6:30 p.m.
Unfortunately no snakes (Natrix or Vipera berus), only some Zootoca vivipara the whole day round.
- Zootoca vivipara
- a silvergrey Zootoca vivipara
The highest density in zootoca was seen between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. A lizard every 50 to 60 cm along stone walls between the mountain meadows.
- 3 Zootocas, one is unfortunately in the deep shade in pictures left down corner
- Zootoca vivipara
- same individual, a few seconds later. Now it had recognised me!
