Blue frogs and other stuff from today

Postby Mourits Løvholt » Sun Apr 10, 2011 5:07 pm

A friend of mine and I did some fieldherping today for blue males of Rana arvalis.

We found a lot of them! And 11 Natrix natrix, 20 Lacerta agilis, 5 Zootoca vivipara, 20 Pelophylax kl. esculentus and 2 Lissotriton vulgaris ;)

Pictures;

The newts:

Nice photos Mourits; I especially like the first female Sand Lizard and all the blue frogs!

Thanks!

Nice. So, "the Danish blue" are about 25 days later than in Belgium, interesting...

Thanks guys! :)
Everything is a little late up here :P
The Natrix ''died'' after 5 seconds in my hand, I just quickly picked it up to get a single picture before releasing it again, we would rather spend the time photograping moor frogs ;)

Btw. Have any of you found eggs from Pelophylax kl. esculentus yet this year?

Liking this again (as I commented on your photos on FHF before). It's been a strange spring in Finland: Got warm really quick, but it's virtually impossible to get to a lot of the sites because of the snow. A friend spotted a single male V.berus last week after struggling more than half an hour in the snow with snow-shoes. The Ranas are still a couple of weeks away.

Will give it a go on saturday.

Keep the posts flowing, Mourits.
