This morning me and my wife went to our local berus spot...
...and spotted a melanistic female

First of all; really nice pictures!!! :)

Melanistic adders are not really something that impresses me too much, not that there aren't beautiful, they are, that's a fact! But since they are very common in Denmark it's not really anything special to me  .
But that grass snake is amazing?! You wrote ''totally normal colors'' -are you serious? Then I'm very envious! Almost every grass snake i find here in Zealand, is just 100% black despite the yellow markings on the neck. Your grass snakes are really nice! :D
Sincerely

Mourits

That's interesting...

I would have to agree with Mourits, although I'm afraid at least Jürgen would call us crazy, but I cannot see how a black viper can be nicer than a regular one with the nice zigzag pattern... So, for me, black does not rock :|

Also, as much as I like Salamandra atra, I prefer a beautiful Salamandra salamandra anytime... Maybe it's my lack of skill, but I hate taking pictures of those blackies.

Is there really no-one else here who agrees?
