Well I finally finished all my lizard catching for my PhD fieldwork. I had a short trip over to Holland in May and caught this little chap...

Pleased to see him but give me a green one any day...

P.S. Isn't Holland Western Europe?

You should have contacted me ;) But amazing find, I've never seen a sandlizard like that as well. What place have you been (near what town)?

Nice find, Liam! :) The only other photo of a black sand lizard I've seen is from Russia and you can see it here (scroll down) - http://dront.ru/nooar/photo-show/prytkaya-yasherica/

It's good to hear that you've finished the catching for your fieldwork! When is it going to be ready?

Caught about 700 in the end, now got the hard bit to do... aiming to finish the end of next year

Bobby, I would've contacted you but it was all a bit short notice, I had a very good guide though ;) .
