Herping in Munich

Postby Jose Alburquerque Ruiz » Thu Jul 21, 2011 9:56 am

Hi to everybody!

I'm really new in this amazing world called "herping", but I'm very proud to be here.
I'm from Spain, but I'm living right now in Munich. As you can imagine, I don't know the area very well...

Can somebody recommend me a place near Munich where I can go with my camera and see some nice animals?

I've been walking near the river Isar, but I only have found one "Rana temporaria" once. I know that the river is not the best place
to search for...

Please help me!

Thak you very much!

Hi!

Yesterday was a sunny day here in Munich, so I decided to take a walk with my camera...

I didn't found much, but something is more than anything.

Congrats Jose!I specially love agilis! So rare in Spain

I´m not expert in frogs, but I think temporaria hasn´t legs as big as dalmatina so this is not a temporaria for me...

Cheers

The snout is long and pointed.
In Rana temporaria there is a pronounced bent between the eye and the tip of the snout.
Tympanun nearly same size as eye (in R. temporaria max. 3/4 of eye diameter).
Rana arvalis:
The moorfrog has a pronounced dark marbled area between flanks and belly.
And it doesnt occur around Munich!
