Agreed, although daytime hunts never seem to work around my place (as you'll probably recall).

No Salamender this time ;-)
I started around 3 pm, and leave at 7 pm by night, but i think it was too dry this evening. I found one active Rana temporaria, no more herp for this time...

It's been too long!!!

Here's a tiny larva deposited in the track of a mountainbike tyre.

January is not the time of the big numbers, but it is the time to see a lot of females (in relative numbers), which often were still carrying larvae last time we met.

Goes to show once more that winter is very lively around here.

One from yesterday :)

With light rain and mild temperatures about 8-10°C I found 3 salamanders, one Bufo bufo and 4 mouses :D

Found them! Now am in hospital after slipping in the 1st 100m of track where I found 8!
