Hello everybody, this is my first post on this forum.
On May 9th GHF (translated Gothenburg herptile association) visited Änggårdsbergen. Its a recreational area located in central Gothenburg.

The weather wasnt the best, very cloudy, but not too cold. Eventually the sun came out for a while, and then we had quite some luck.

First a female Vipera berus:

Later a Coronella austriaca (unsure of sex):

Right after that a male Vipera berus:

A pic of the two species together:

Habitat view:

I dont have pictures of all species we saw, but here is what we found:

Vipera berus (3)
Coronella austriaca (2)
Anguis fragilis (2)

I´m looking forward to see more field reports from Europe in this new forum!

Cheers!

Nice photos! I've seen pictures of C.austriaca eating V.berus, but here in Bulgaria that probbably happens very rarely! Maybe in places, such as Sweden where both species live more closely to one another this isn't an unusual sight?

Nice post; it`s always nice to look at the (most) beautiful snake that is the adder. :)

This location is one of just two I know in the Gothenburg area (Where I live) with smooth snakes. There are plenty of adder locals, but this is by far the best place to find smooth snakes.
The other location I know of is also a place where Adder and Grass snake can be found. Its really exciting that all 3 species of snake can be found so close to eachother.
