Smooth snakes from Åland, Finland

Postby Tom Hoogesteger » Sat Aug 28, 2010 1:59 pm

In Finland Coronella austriaca is known only from the islands of Åland. There are very few records of the species, but our findings from Åland this summer suggest that the smooth snake might actually be more common than thought. We found quite a few of these awesome snakes, including some previously unknown locations. Here are some pictures from this summer.

Great stuff, Tom. A very rare treat to see photos of the finnish specimens.

However, check your display settings. Your photos are over exposed. Nikons tend to do that by default.

Cheers.
