Hi everybody,
Went flipping today and besides a dice snake and a few grass snakes I found a juvenile aesculapian snake. Just wondering what's in the eye? Anybody, any idea..? By the way it was just on the other side. Some kind of fungus?
Georg

It might be an old eye cap that didn't fell off with the rest of the skin when the snake was shedding.

How looked the overall appearance?
Smooth or a bit rough?
For me it looks like some injury, like from mites.

To me it looked quite rough, like some old, dry clay... something like that. I first thought it was gonna shed, but the other side was normal. Maybe it was an old eye cap just like Ilian suggested.
