Sometimes it pays off to stay longer at the same place - at this time a stonewall near Zadar
The smaller mate was sitting on a obviously good basking spot, when a larger specimen approached from above. It was really interesting to see the behaviour, starting with the typical up and down of the forefeet (in german "Treteln", unfortunately i don't know the english translation) from the juvenile/subadult. After the younger didn't really run away, the female one was going for the tail, which made the subadult in the end to clear the place:
