Peloponnese 2014 (07- 16. April)

Postby Julius Zidorn » Mon Apr 21, 2014 11:53 am

Hi,

I had a fantastic herp trip to the southern Peloponnese. Weather was great, sun every day and nearly no rain, this explains the lack of some amphibian species.
After the first day I had already found all endemic species. All in all, 27 species of reptiles and amphibians were seen and 26 of them photographed, we didn´t managed to get a pic of Malpolon insignitus.

Here are the pics of the first 4 days, the others will follow soon!

Cheers,
Julius

Defintely one of the best places in Europe to go herping, keep the pictures coming! The stone wall with the two snake heads is great!

Haha: In 2012 I was on Peloponnese with 4 fierce snake hunters - some of the hardest guys in this forum. They didn't find half as much snakes than you found
I like the in situ snake shots.

Like Peter said, the amount of snakes you saw is amazing. What temperatures did you encounter when you were there?
I wander if going there in the second half of March would produce ( even half of ) what you saw...
