Other four lined snakes:

A huge (gravid) female spotted only because of the presence of a male escaped some meters "above" its basking place

A male and a female found not far from each other, while I was searching a good place for the "toilet"...

Ruggero, what are you, a wizard?
You're certainly driving a lot of people crazy...

(Regarding E. quatuorlineata, they might hiss (just for a while), even threaten one
with an open mouth, but that's pretty much all they display...
Regarding malpolon, you were obviously born under a lucky star...

And another gravid female (if I remember well) of the many I saw

And a severely injured baby found at the edge of a pathway in Losinj

I can believe that, but my "diagnoses" still hold... Many able people have tried
the same in the same (or alike) places... but not with results like yours.

Do you remember the couple of Malpolon?

One day I colud not find them any longer...

But a confident blackish aesculapian snake was present exactly in the same place!
It continued to crawl around even after I took it in the hands a couple of times: I observed it probably looking for prey for almost half an hour...

One late afternoon, in the same place, we watched a beautiful fourlined snake crossing the road...
While we had it in our hands, we saw another big snake crossing the road a few meters away: it was a wonderful black aesculapian this time! :P

Go to hell! Putting salt in everyone's wounds... that's really very unkind of you...

On two different late afternoons, we could find two different baby leopard snakes, crossing the same road.
The first baby had a really wonderful yellow background colour, but the pictures, unfortunately, do not give justice to the beauty of its colours.

The second specimen, also yellowish, but slighly less brilliant than the first
