No lizards running across the warm roads as you usually see in this part of the world during summertime,
and only one DOR snake, which i identified as a Hierophis gemonensis.

Two days ago a friend from Hvar made the following photo with his cellular phone:

The cigarette box has a width of 5.5 cm, so my rough estimate would be cca. 70cm TBL.
My friend said that he had never seen a monster like that before, and he surely has seen
A LOT of ammodytes in his life. He is a peasant, a hunter, and a sharp observer of nature.
Yes, this only confirms the well-known observation that ammodytes on islands tend to be
smaller than those on the mainland.
