Again a somewhat older report, but as you see, we're getting closer ;)

Interesting the melanistic/melanotic (not grey, as you wrote in your report ;) ) aesculapian snake: I was many times in Greece, and never saw a longissimus.
Probably because my herp tours were almost totally made near the seaside, where this "Elaphe" species, typically "continental and mesophile", is probably almost totally replaced by its more "termophile" cousins quatuorlineata and situla!

Ruggiero, is not exactly what you say: I found several times Zamenis longissimus almost on the seashore, which is in Corfu to Paxos ;)

They were on vacation in Corfù! :P

Ok: maybe it's not as I wrote everywhere, but in the mainland coast of Igoumenitsa no longissimus to see (neither alive nor DOR) in many years... :roll:
