I saw two of them in 2014 around Vrana lake :shock: very surprised with the contrasted pattern !

That has got to be one of the most unusual ammodytes I ever saw a picture of, what a beautiful animal!

A totally black one (one of the three found) has already been presented in this forum, but lost somewhere
among the postings...
I'll find the photo and repost it. But this one is an alive individual, and hopefully still lives there, under the
peak of mt. Dinara.
(For reliable friends, the precise spot will be revealed... so you could try for yourself...)
Addendum: Dušan was there "in the field" with a broader team of the State Institute for Nature Protection,
and none of them had much understanding for (t)his find, they were "in a hurry", so they granted him just a
minute to make a few photos... therefore, no measurements, no tissue sample for DNA analysis...

I know only of three totally black individuals, found at a different locality, in the northern part of Croatia.
