Jeroen, which island is "Epano"? Maybe Ano Koufonissi?

Hello Mario,

Did you try to contact Andreas Brahm from Chimaira editions?
He found some things for me in the past.

It should have said "Epano Koufonissi" like on your web page, I believe.

So they are two Koufiniss islets and both have ammodytes: Ano Koufonissi and Kato Koufinissi?

Yes, there are two Koufonissi's.
During the Vipera ursinii rako meeting in Budapest in autumn 2013, I was taking to Stephanos Roussos on island ammodytes and sent him pictures. One female from Kato Kufounissi. This seems the first and only record from the island. It is said, the island is viper free, so maybe be very good luck, having found an introduced one?! :?

Indeed that Kato Koufonissi is supposedly viper free. Rather bizarre but it seems Mario's observation was a very fortunate one. Many of the other uninhabited islets around the larger Cyclades have ammodytes, notably some rather small ones I visited near Antiparos.

The other Koufonissi is known as Ano Koufonissi, Epano Koufonissi or just Koufonisia. Beautiful place, perhaps the nicest of all the islands I visited. The only island where I could explore every corner on foot.

Mario you are right! My mistake! It seems that in both books the drawings made by the same person, Achilleas Dimitropoulos ;-) He is from Syros and so is that magazine you uploaded ;-) It is vol 18 so you should find it here http://www.bibliophilia.gr/33-arxipelag ... etail.html (volumes 13-24)

Jeroen yes, there are two Koufonissia: Ano (=Epano) Koufonissi and Kato Koufonissi (upper and lower). "Koufonissia" is plural, when you want to mention both islands.

Thanks! Do both islands have ammodytes?

And is the double "s" a more common way to spell it in the Roman alphabet (unlike Prasonisi etc.) (as far as there are any actual rules for that)?
