Hallo everybody,

Heidi and i spend the last two weeks of May 2016 on Peloponnes, Greek. We spend the first week in Kalogria on the north-west coast with the lake Prokopos an the Strofila forest. For the second week we drive to Pylos also on the west coast of Peloponnes.

And now hear are somme photos of our trip. Not only herps but also insects, birds and landscapes.

Beautiful pictures: the position of the Malpolon over the hot street is so typical, but I've seen once a H.gemonensis exactly in the
same position. It was in Cres: had I the gemonensis not captured, had I thought it was a Malpolon! :D

When Malpolon are in that position they are actually not "crossing" but they stay totally motionless and look around. When they want to cross the road, they crawl fast but, as I can remember, not with elevated head.
Another observation: even if the picture is taken from a certain distance, you can clearly see that the first specimen is a female, from the markings on the throath.
In the other pictures you can see a male (or two different males).
