Hi guys,
Im in Rijeka right now and have been searching
For herps without much luck now. Ive been
thinking to go herp in Risnjak but im not sure
how good the place is. Does any one have an idea
Where i can find some good stuff around northern
Croatia? I would be very great full since i am really desperate to find any herps (especially vipers).
If someone knows a spot, please send a private message, as strangers shouldnt know about the spots to well.

So ive been searching around the two lakes on krk over the last few days and ive only found a single natrix natrix and some podarcis. What am i doing wrong? i have two days left and i really want to find mor snakes, does anyone have any advice?

Geckos are easy to be found on stony walls at night. Especially next to sources of light.

ill try a more foresty area around 7.00 tomorrow maybe that will bring more luck

try looking for tortoises in maquis early in morning or in evening, they create noise when they walk

Krk in late summer/beginning of autumn can be quite annoying, at least when i have been there (first week of Sept.), after the first rainfalls in autumn it gets more interesting again.

Same experience in Cres in late summer: almost nothing to see. But during an August of many years ago I've seen in southern France (Herault) so many Malpolon as never before (or after) in my life: strange and unpredictable creatures the snakes!

Namely, there are no geckos on the island of Krk. In Rijeka yes, but on Krk no. So?
