Summer herping 1: Italia, Sardegna & Corsica, Amphibians

The best time for herping is spring, but what if you cant help it and you want to do it all the time, then you put in some extra effort and do it in Summer.

This summer we (me and my girl and 2 children) went to Sardinia, Corsica and we did not waste the route towards and from the destinations.
Thanks to my girl I got many chances to look around, she probably lets me do my thing, otherwise I will be a very sad man....

And Thanks to Jeroen S. and Wouter B. I was able to find almost everything where I was looking for, but not only known locations where visited, almost every stop we did was enough to find several herps.

In the french Alps we met with my parents and spend 1 day ending with a very well filled BBQ...
That night I drove to Italy and the next day I found 9 Salamandra Lanzai and some Rana temporaria.

The next stop was in the Ligurian mountains were some Bombina's had a 'home', their neighbours were Salamandra salamandra and Rana italica.

Next thing was going to Sardinia, 6 hours on a boat, I loved it, I didnt find anything interesting on the boat...

Andre, did you only go to Sardinia? At night I found Hyla at the most places where there was water.

Yes I only was in sardina but have had no chance for real night herping (as I wrote in "my" thread...my girlfriend was tolerant...but not as tolerant for night herps :) )

Nice one, Gert Jan, but I already told you! I am really impressed by both your findings and the beautiful photos.
Moreover, I like your priorites - reserving part I for the Amphibians, when there´s surely a part II for the Reptiles to come ;)
(And no, please don´t even think of posting something like "He´s just saving the best for last"-statements ;))

Cheers,
Laura

Haha Laura, there is an Asp in the reptiles-part, so maybe some will like the reptile part better......

The Hyla's were amazing, they change color, while you take photos, the white ones with yellow spots on them were almost black in the morning, and when I wanted to take photos of that in the daylight, they already were getting lighter again (my children really want to see what I found at night)

No lizards?
But after receiving Bobby's brainwash I'm also able to appreciate all these marshmellows...
Cool shots!
