Verona

I was with my wife from 14.07 – 17.07 in Verona and the area around.
We arrived at 14.00 and the Temperature was very hot, between 35 – 38 Degrees.
We visited the city, went back in our Hotel and I checked the backyard for something.
I found some Podarcis muralis most of them still in the shadow.

And a Hierophis viridiflavus.

The next day we drove north (30 km) to Molina and visited the “Parco delle Cascate” a very nice Place.
A Forest Park in a valley, with some small streams and waterfalls.

I think a very good area for Salamandra, Rana and maybe Vipera berus and Zootoca vivipara.
There were many People inside, so I don`t leave the ways or flip something.
I saw a Lacerta bilineata (No pic) and a few Podarics muralis.

Then we drove west (20 km) of Verona to a small Village called Viaggio, visited the castle
and I made a lot of Lizard-pics.

On the 16th we were the day in Verona and on the evening we visited the Opera (Aida), normally not my music, but it was a very nice and interesting experience! The next day we drove back home.

Hi Juergen,
the Podarcis you photographed show an interesting variation in pattern.
I particular, I like the juvenile eating a worm...

Hi Jürgen,

great shots - as usual! Thanks for that muralis-series. They really look very similiar to to the P. muralis maculiventris of the isolatet pop in the north Tirol. Esp. color of males. Look at that:

According to the book of Ulrich Schulte they are all P. muralis maculiventris (western form).

That`s right Peter, but I was the past years in different areas in South Tyrol and I never saw males in this color! That makes it much more interseting!
