Sardinia March 2008, Part 1

Maybe some of you knows this pics from http://www.vipersgarten.at, here are some more pics and a few words. Sadly I forgot to make some landscape pics (like I have done it in the past, now and in the future!)
I fly with three bodies to Sardinina, we arrived on Sunday morning 23.03.08 in Alghero (northwest of the island) with the best weather conditions for fieldherping, 7 degrees cold and heavy rain!!!!!!
People told us the last two weeks they had 20 Degrees and more and they think it will change soon. We hoped that also!
But no change during the day, just sitting around, talking and watched outside.
At 4 p. m we had light rain now and decided to go out, just for walking.
We drove to a nice mountain area (no pics!) flipping some rocks and found the first reptiles,
Chalcides occelatus; Podarcis siculus siculus, Chalcides chalcides.

The Chalcides chalcides on the Island are much smaller and thinner than the chalcides on the Italian mainland.

Monday 24.03. After a very cold rainy night, we had a cloudy, rainy day.
We drove around at the Alghero area, flipping some rock and found more Chalcides occelatus.
At this little river we found under rocks Podarcis siculus siculus, a few eggshells of them (forgot to make pics!) and four Hyla sarda.

In this channel I was flipping the trash and found a Discoglossus sardus.

In a hut in the backyard were a few Tarantola mauritanica.

Tuesday 25.03. the rain stops, cloudy but the sun comes out from time to time.
We drove to the Grotta su Bentu in the east.
On the way, flipping rocks found more Chalcides occelatus and Podarcis siculus.

At the Grotta we found the first Podarcis tiliguerta. We never found tiliguerta with other lizards!

No pics from the Grotta area or the mountainrange.

Wednesday 26.03. Sun, only Sun!!!! Drove to the west coast and looked for Testudo graeca.
We stop the car, I went out, turn the first rock and found a Chalcides occelatus!
We found one Bufo viridis, a few Podarics siculus, Tarantola mauritanica and striped Podarcis tiliguerta and some Testudo graeca.
