Spring trip to Calabria and Sicily

Spring trip to Calabria and Sicily

Postby Bobby Bok » Tue May 06, 2014 8:49 pm

In my silly quest to see as many European species as possible, southern Italy has always been a major gap. This spring I spend a little over a week in beautiful Calabria and Sicily with a small day excursion to the Aeolian islands as a highly memorable highlight. During the week we weren't so much blessed with profitable weather and we had to work hard for some of our maingoals (waglerianus, boulengeri and Z. lineatus) while others (such as Salamandrina and Lissotriton) were present in high numbers. Have a look at my report: http://www.herpsafari.nl/tripreports-eu ... ia-sicily/

Great-looking trip as always, Bobby. I can imagine your relief when you could finally get ashore to see the P. raffonei! I really like the look of the grass snakes too :)
