Rome, Abruzzo and Gran Sasso RFI

Rome, Abruzzo and Gran Sasso RFI

Postby Mark Hows » Fri Aug 29, 2014 7:22 pm

In a week or so I am going to Rome for a few days and then to the Abruzzo / Gran Sasso area and would welcome and sites to visit for herps.

Paul Lambourne has already been helpful with some info (Many Thanks) but an specific sites and in particular a site for Speleomantes italicus would be appreciated, feel free to contact me off forum if that is appropriate.

Or if anyone local wants to meet up that would be great

Thanks

A terrible trip for herps - I could not visit Ostia antica due to car trouble and no locals I contacted provided any help.

Hopefully better luck on my next trip.

Thanks for all the help from the forum most appreciated

Trip report anyway as I saw loads of other wildlife

To get those, you need to proof that you can be trusted. I never give open access site details to people I don't know and I am happy that my herper friends on here do the same. Site disturbance and mouth-to-mouth going easily from good to bad people sadly has shifted my perspective throughout the years. For all I know, you are someone who tells everybody about the delicate sites I might tell you about.

I was not expecting Grid refs but some more general help of some areas to try

I have loads of trip reports with no disclosure of sites
