Unfortunately I had a small fight with the technology, and I had difficulty finding a bit of material. I will post more as soon as possible. :D
Beautiful reports, you saw a lot of beautiful animals. especially Podarcis raffonei alvearioi and also the magnificent inflorescences of orchids.
Edit: No good photos, many made with the mobile and unrepresentative.

Survived:

Emys trinacris, in a rehabilitation center for wildlife.

Discoglossus pictus

Pelophylax sp.

Found by a colleague of mine, in an area where it was found already a few times in different years. But looking beyond these cases and that not even be counted on one hand, nothing.

When I saw this video before some years, I was sure it was a released specimen.
But look at this:

On the other hand, there's no mention in Daudin's description of the name Eryx of Sicily (just checked), so the etymological origin is unclear (to me).

Does anyone can access to this one?

Tokar, A.A. 1991. A revision of the subspecies structure of the javelin sand boa Eryx jaculus (L. 1758) (Reptilia Boidae)

It seems that there is a reference to boas from Sicily.

I don't, but I do dare to be skeptical about the validity of this source concerning actual sample-based evidence. I've at least contacted some Italian experts.

http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/sp ... es=jaculus
http://www.rgrahamreynolds.info/wp-cont ... .-2014.pdf

"The genus name derives from the Latin Eryx (genitive Ery- cis), the name of a mountain in the NW corner of Sicily, with a famous temple to Venus at its top; also an eponymous hero, son of Venus, defeated by Heracles in a boxing-match. According to GOTCH (1986: 128) «There is probably no special reason for this generic name» as a number of names from classical mythology has been used «without thought of any physical significance»."

Once more your database is really helpful :!: . I think that the relevant information is on page 35:

"Для европейской части ареала крайней западной находкой является остров Сицилия (MZUF 22507)" --> Western limit of distribution range located in Sicily (MZUF 22507)

+ Figure 9, location 60
