Kai, I'm figuring out my favorite pictures while getting through them right on the trip, so just have to pick out the ~5% of pictures which give the best overview...
(just ~2.500 pictures might be an advantage too?! )

And it has to be mentioned here that Kai deserves most of the honor, with his great success with finding herps!!!
(almost though he spent all his money on some speciemens just to stumble over them out in the field  )

Not enough that he find the "non existing" quatuorlineata, at the end of our trip he also spotted the nicest easter egg ever, on the last meters in the mountains of piemont...
yes, it was an interesting and amazing trip, we really enjoyed our time together!!!

dont understand, why people have problems to spot 4lineatas in Tuscany - or in any other location.
Seems to be not really a problem. Most times I spot 4 or 5 a day there (in early morning or late afternoon hours).

You may consider yourself as extremely lucky or the others are pretty bad (and it seems to be my case)

Maybe Mario knows some special spots... I would love to have just a single day like he described. ;)

Wow. Markus, this looks like an incredibly successful trip. Congrats! Is there anything that you wanted to see and that you didn't find? The Piemonte obviously was a success too, as one can imagine after seeing your pics on flickr.

I very much like your animal-in-environment shots, especially ambrosii with the cave entrance in the background. As for the turcicus, I would have preferred to photograph it without direct sunlight because I assume that it has been flipped. By the way: Does anybody ever have seen turcicus out by daylight?

Well, yes, coincidentally during my last trip in the parking lot of the rental car companies on Athens airport. It was however missing its tail and acting very sluggishly. Other than that, never seen!
