Herping in the.......... school!

Herping in the.......... school!

Postby Francesco Tri » Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:15 am

Yesterday the police call me for one reptile in a school.
I was very surprised to find a nice Hierophys viriflavus, var carbonarius, very angry, within the space of a window!
Will be released in Alta Murgia National Park, where he'll be more comfortable, but more ignorant :D

Great! I'm happy for the snake! I wish people in Bulgaria call snake guys to remove snakes,too... :? Instead..they usually kill them! Some months ago a big D.caspius entered a school yard in Rousse (north-east Bulgaria)...the security guy killed it and hang it from the branches of a nearby tree,so everybody could see what a 'hero' he is!...Man,what a jerk!

I am Vet Public Health Service and my phone number is now known by all law enforcement: firefighters, police, rangers ..... and I am always happy to save a snake, even if they call me at three in the night ...!

Good job! That's one lucky snake! Did you manage to show it to some of the kids & teachers, to do a bit of education on your own?

Of course!
Although an angry Green Whip Snake is less suitable reptile for show that the snakes also deserve the respect reserved for other animals, many children and teachers have won their shyness and were fascinated by the movements and the beauty!
Almost everyone has touched, surprised that it was not slimy!
I then invited everyone to attend meetings of our club (Club CAEB Aquariums Herpetology Bari). www.caebonlus.it/wp/
We hope to acquire new baby herpetologists!
