Last trip of the season

Last trip of the season

Postby Jürgen Gebhart » Thu Oct 06, 2011 5:14 pm

I was for a speed trip in South Tyrol, Bolzano area. Of course I was looking for Viperas but I don`t found one.
I saw a lot of Podarcis muralis and three Lacerta bilineata.

I found the first time Bombina variegate in South Tyrol. I think they are not very common there.

Than I saw a part of a snake body in the grass. Olive green ground color and white markings around the scales and I thought, nice a half grown Zamenis longissimus.
I grabbed the snake and before I realized what it really was the snake start to eat my hand.
I think it don`t need more than three seconds for that.

That`s it, the season is over for me!
It starts to rain right now and tomorrow we will get dammed cold temperatures.

That's true love: I guess the snake wasn't punished for that massacre. Think what happened if it was a dog! ;)
