Thanks fellow herpetophiles! The Ommatotriton's were the highlight for me*, introduced or not, the most impressive newts I've seen so far. They are introduced by a Spanish guy who released them there, originally they come from Northern Turkey and the Kaukasus countries.

I originally intended not to post this picture since I know some people here hate flipped pictures but especially for you Laura:

*or the chameleons, the arnoldi's, the abundance of Alytes, listening to Madonna 264 times a day, visiting McDonalds on a herptrip...

Besides techno and other "Paul Lambourne music" I also understand the fine art of Jazz, wish Madonna did too...

Aaaah, all those Alytes...veeery nice! Thanks for posting ;)

But I guess we need to face reality - a lot of the photos shown here wouldn´t exist if there hadn´t been some flipping action before. And since I guess I am not the only one in this forum whose herpetophile heart would skip a beat at this sight, I am glad you posted the photo nevertheless ;)

Great shot of an unusual Bufo Calamita, almost like a hybrid between Bufo Calamita and Bufo Viridis.

Are these species closely related?

Obviously, although not as much as one would imagine. Assigning them to different genera seems to make more sense with new evidence popping up.
Need to dig up the latest publication...

hmm.. 48 species, is it mini trip indeed? I enjoyed a lot the photo on which male of Schreiber's lizard looked as if he was hugging the female. First skink's photography is awesome too.

Bobby,

Spain / Portugal will def be my next big trip....

Regarding your comment

Bobby, I want you to do something for me.. sit in the dark, play this at full volume http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IzVZj4BNms.. and try to keep still.. impossible..

MDMA optional( but recommended).. if you could get a decent cup of tea there, it almost makes me want to go to Belgium...

Jeroen, isnt it about time your little fella had a set of skull candys and fisher price decks... its never to early... especially as the the best music in Europe seems to be emanating from his country.... :D
