Summer in Pyrénées + Spain

Postby Alexandre Roux » Wed Jul 03, 2013 8:16 pm

Hello !!!

I've been away from the forum these days but I'm now abme to make my come back !
Unfortunatly I had a problem with my camera, I'm still waiting for it to be repared...

Whatever ! I'm making my summer trip (from August 10 to August 20) to the Pyrénées mountains and I hope I can spend 2 or 3 days in Spain (Burgos and Cantabriques).
I'm especially looking for Vipera latastei and the St Graal... Ursus arctos (NEVER GIVE UP !!!) !

As everytime I go somewhere, I will be very thankful if somebody could help me in this quest !

As I'm doing everytime, I will post my pictures and comments !

Thanks a lot !!!

See you later

To me, that's a 'regular' latastei... Looking forward to see your report!

That will take some time to write everything.
Are you sure for lastatei? We had a strong hesitation but we don' know Vipera latastei enough and the "hornless" made us think of Vipera aspis (or maybe hybrid).

So, what about this one found in the same place? (photo by a friend)

The viper was crossing the road around 10:30 p.m.
Is this viper a latastei for everybody? What about the second one?

Don't expect a nose-horn like ammodytes from all latastei's.

The second one you posted is more difficult. I would go for aspis or hybrid, but Gabri will most likely solve all this when he reads it.

The first one is a classic latastei. Great, and happy you find this by night ;-). Congrats !

The second one is maybe a hybrid or Vipera aspis... Do you have picture of top of the head ?
