Short trip to Southern Iberia

Postby Daniel Kane » Fri Aug 22, 2014 9:02 pm

From the 16-20th of August I was in the south of Spain. Just a quick getaway really, with no real herp focus. Being the middle of August I did not have high hopes for finding anything more than the most common species, so I was not disappointed with the result ;) I was staying in the hills above Coin, about an hour's drive from Malaga. The 17th was very cloudy - no herps until the sun came out later on. 18th was spent in Gibraltar - again, no herps until the sun came out in the afternoon. The 19th was spent around the villa - 37*C so a bit on the warm side for most herps. Still though, a few new species for me and some nice time off work :)

Nice shots! The damselfly is an immature male Calopteryx haemorrhoidalis.

The picture shows in an impressive way, those monkeys are "tourists" on THE ROCK.
Posing like, Germans, Austrians, English, etc.
