New Pelodytes species

Postby Gabriel Martínez » Tue Mar 14, 2017 5:33 pm

Hi all,

For the people that don´t know, 2 new Pelodytes species have been recently described (I knew about atlanticus, but hespericus surprised me):

Cheers!

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing, Gabri.

Makes you wonder how many more cryptic species could be hiding in plain sight within Europe...

The eastern split at least seems too premature. You don't split species without careful study of what's going on at contact zones. I really dislike the tendency to split species that are likely to be just subspecies.

But I should add that the amount and variety of the presented data is impressive!
