Schooltrip to Mallorca in May 2017

Postby Bobby Bok » Mon Jun 05, 2017 9:10 pm

Two weeks ago I visited Mallorca together with Wouter and a small group of students from my herpetological study group at work. The whole island was already quite dry (see Thomas' report from one month earlier) and exceedingly hot. Nevertheless, we were able to find quite a few of our main targets and not in the least the endemic Majorcan Midwife Toad (Alytes muletensis). Finally I was able to see adults in the wild! It was a great experience for both students and teacher alike!

Looks like you had a great trip, wish I could have done that when I was at school, no Green toads?

Truly the find of the trip. Such a stunning little toad!

It was already incredibly dry on the island so we decided to spend our limited time on more "achievable" goals such as an elusive snake ;)

Those kind of teenagers are very rare indeed, so I felt incredibly lucky and privileged to be able to undertake a trip like this!
