Snakes in the Malaga area ?

Postby Martin Høyem » Tue Mar 23, 2010 6:34 pm

Hi,

I have been considering to take a trip to Malaga soon, I can take a trip with SAS for 3 days for 300 Euro, including hotel, but is there any places in about 70 km from Malaga where I might be lucky to find some snakes og other "snake related" Zoo or other thing in that area ? :)

Frindly regards Martin Høyem.

Hi Martin,
I haven't been in the Malaga area but you could possibly find the following species:
Hemorrhois hippocrepis
Elaphe scalaris
Macroprotodon brevis
Malpolon monspessulanus
Coronella girondica
maybe Natrix maura and Natrix natrix more inland...

If you have a look at some websites (e.g. herpetofauna.at or hylawerkgroep.be/jeroen/) you may find some interesting trip reports...

regards
Peter
