North spain and south france

Postby Andre Schmid » Wed May 11, 2011 11:12 am

Maybe not the best time to show a report of a trip because now there are so much fine trip reports shown but...why not

So, Daniel Bohle, Felix Reimann, Michael Glass and I had made a trip to north spain to search for some nice Vipers, with success. After 7 days in N-Spain we drove back to france to make a few days "freestyle-herping" to find whatever comes along the road...so here are a few pictures of our trip.

Then is a extra-point! Zamenis in Spain is rare (not for the density, in Basque country is common, but the habitat is difficult to herp -many bushes and trees but no stones, but maybe isn´t bad for central europe herpers expert in these habitats ;) ), and herpers of north Spain say the best month is july, so in april you have been very lucked!

Melanistic astreptophora I heard is possible in "Picos de Europa" National Park. But I think it´s not common so congrats again!
