Short head, brown color, stripes, missing supraocularia - Rhinechis scalaris to me - not possible?

Thanks to all of you for this confirmation. So in total, 3 DOR M.monspessulanus observed (1 in Monchique and 2 close to Sagres).

Short head, brown color, stripes, missing supraocularia - Rhinechis scalaris to me - not possible?


Maybe it's not obvious from the pictures but there is only one stripe which is centered. It is more likely to be a Malpolon.

where do you see a stripe?
Also:
Dorsal scale rows: Rhinechis: (25) 27 (29), west Malpolon: 19
No groved dorsal scales in Rhinechis.
Suboculars also missing in Monpellier snake.

Where are some pictures from your Anatolia trip?! :(
