Spain needs rain..

Postby GertJan Verspui » Thu Oct 20, 2011 8:14 pm

Last weekend (13-17 October) I visited the area around Madrid again, I was there also in the spring, but because it was a bit dry then I did not see some amphibian species.

I went with my girlfriend and there we met with Rubén Martínez, there are more people who helped me, Thanks to Jeroen, Honorio and Gabriel!!

Maybe early autumn would be better, unfortunatly this was not the case, it was the most dry october in many years so most of the amphibians were hiding, reptile activity was also very low.

Here are a couple of the photos I made,

According to the season you found a lot of Amphibians! The last two pics are cyreni, I guess.
Very nice!

Thank you Peter and Gabriel, I did hope for some rain to find more frog/toad species, but we did see more snakes, 1 Natrix natrix in a area with a lot of Pelophylax perezi, and Rubén saw a big Vipera Latastei in Sierra de Gredos, but no photos....
