Do not shutter sound frighten animals in case of using DSLR? I have been using this type of camera and it was startling lizards so that on pics they were in getaway.

Nikon is quite loud.. I use a Pentax which is more silent. But after a few clicks they get used to it.

Ronald, which nikon is quite loud? I have read that D3100 has ''quiet mode''. Maybe i should buy a MILC?

MILC, or Some Sony SLT (a77, a99), quiet enough because of first electronic shuter, but you keep the ergonomics of a classic camera.

The D300(S) and D700 as far as I know. I don't know about the new series. I know that Pentax K5(II/IIs), Pentax K-3 (quiet for a DSLR) and the Sony MILC and SLT are quiet.
If you are really concerned about it you should listen first before buying. The "Quiet mode" means that it was is less loud than normal for that camera, but it doesn't say it is more quiet than another model/brand. You can compare them with a dB-meter (app).
