Hello friends , i have 2 questions about photography:

do you use normally UV filters for your lenses?
how can i know if my lense is scratched?

Yes, I use a UV filter or a polarising filter for my camera. Personally it is for no other reason than to protect the lens (or to make the sky really blue with the polarising filter), as if I ever damaged it I'd prefer to have to replace a £10 filter than a £250 camera/dSLR lens.

You will know if it is scratched because you will have the same blur on the same part of each photo you take, or if you look closely you will see a scratch on the lens!

ouch something more , how do you clean the lenses? i dont like chemical liquids etc . a friend told me that the little towel that comes with sunglasses is OK , or breathing in the glass and with a rice paper , like smoking paper

I tend to use a chemical lens cleaner, as it evaporates and does not leave smears and bits of lint.. lens cleaning cloths are cheap from photographic shops, but I would advise getting a small blower brush to remove the bits of lint left behind.

Re your first post, all my lenses have filters on them..as Daniel said its much cheaper to replace a filter..

I don't know much about photography myself, so that's interesting for me too! I tried to find filters for my lenses (Olympus E-420) but I don't know which is best! Can someone confirm if this is ok! I'm not sure if it will match my lenses! What are the 52mm? My lenses are 14-42mm and 40-150mm!

The 52mm would refer to the diameter of the lens .. most DSLR lenses apart from large mirror lenses ten to fall within 52 - 58 mm.

to say it more clear:

Mostly you will see the diameter of the front threat on the lens specification, like: AF 18 - 200mm (focal length) F/3.5 - 5.6 (aperture) ø 62 mm - or just measure the INNER width of the front threat

I use UV filters on each of my lenses. To have better colors and in first to protect the lenses.
For cleaning I use these cleaning clothes, soaked with some fluid, you use for eyeclasses.
You will get it in every super market, much cjeaper than those especially for lenses - but are the same!

You might just want to check the inside of your lens cap.. I know with both my Sigma & Canon lenses the diameter is clearly printed (moulded) there..
