As some of you will know, this is not a joke...

But let's agree to treat it as one anyway ;)

This Australian taxi driver already is considered to be a "persona non grata" ;)

Also, it looks like, Australians dont like to be driven by him ;)
He must have a lot of time and knowledge of foreign languages to read? all these literature he cited.
Even Farsi (by him: Persian) => Bagherian & Kami, 2009

Thanks for posting this Jeroen. It's not ironical, I really have a funny time reading Hoser's papers, and this one is no exception. At one point he will have to stop renaming snakes because his family members are not in an unlimited number.

...and I think he also named a snake after his dog. You should integrate this parameter in your Matlab script ;)

Indeed, I believe Broghammerus reticulatus is such an example, isn't it?

Hoser had an angry, raging reply to the Kaiser et al. paper on FHF that I wanted to link here for those of you with too much time, but its traces seem to have been largely erased and his member account (snakemanaustralia) seems gone from FHF too...

The agony is how I actually ran in to this paper. Because I was wondering about the subspecific rank of Bobby's Italian Natrix, I was browsing Google Scholar for the latest Natrix natrix phylogeny paper, but I couldn't remember the title or authors (Kindler et al., 2013 which is of course here too => http://vipersgarden.at/PDF_files/PDF-5584.pdf). I hit something like "sort by date" and this was the only paper that was given as being recent :?

True, but the forum thread was juicier ;) .

Apparently he is the one and only contributing author to the Australasian journal of Herpetology. The amount of vanity shown in his classifications is incredible, furthermore he seems to be one of those people who will always believe he is right despite the entire, worldwide scientific community telling him he is wrong. Poor chap.
