Yes, Graptemys for sure ;)
But I tend more to the typical kohnii x pseudogeographica hybid, which are most bred in turtle farms in the US.

Graptemys no doubt, but hard to tell which species, especially with those hybrids and the worn down shell. Could be nigrinoda as well by the pattern on the head. If you can take a photo of the chin/throat it might give you some clues.

... pseudogeographica maybe - but kohnii I don't think!
Why should it be a hybrid?

Did you mean catching the turtle? You don't have to do that to photograph the throat, you just need a bit of luck or a different vantage point. Like this:

"Your" animal looks very similar to this http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1ue-oALCAlw/S-ZHt25GRsI/AAAAAAAAJrc/Y2hb_wThMKo/s800/IMG_2142.JPG which is pseudogeographica (this one a male though as opposed to the female of your photos) and its features match this chart http://s172.photobucket.com/user/Razorclaw1973/media/overig/Graprecog.jpg.html.

So I would agree with the local expert.

Yes, you have a point. Well, we'll never know for sure I guess.
